Israeli Minister Launches Fierce Attack, Calling Erdoğan "Ungrateful"

The ongoing diplomatic escalation highlights Israel’s growing concerns over Turkey’s expanding influence in Syria, amid government reports explicitly calling for preparations for a direct military con

Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen launched a scathing attack on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, calling him "ungrateful" and "anti-Semitic," while predicting the fall of his regime. This escalation comes amid rising tensions between the two nations and growing fears of a direct confrontation.
Cohen wrote on his X account: "Erdoğan is not only an anti-Semitic relic of the past but also an ungrateful man. He forgets that 'the Zionist entity' was the one that sent rescue teams to save Turkish lives in their darkest times, even in 2023." These remarks reflect the intensity of the Israeli government's rhetoric toward Ankara.
He continued: "The Turkish people are tired of Erdoğan’s tyranny, and his regime will fall—for the sake of Turkey and the entire world." This statement marks a direct interference in Turkey's internal affairs and an unprecedented diplomatic escalation.
Israeli-Turkish relations have been extremely tense recently, with growing speculation and warnings about the possibility of a direct military confrontation between the two on Syrian soil. These developments raise concerns about the further expansion of regional conflicts.
In a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced that another security meeting regarding Turkey’s presence in Syria would soon be held, with senior defense officials participating. This follows similar discussions last week, underscoring the priority that Turkish activities hold in Israeli strategic calculations.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that Netanyahu, through his advisors, has been urging the media to emphasize that "a confrontation with Turkey on Syrian territory is inevitable." These media leaks suggest an Israeli effort to prepare public opinion for a possible clash.
Notably, a recent Israeli government committee report recommended that Netanyahu prepare for a potential war with Turkey, citing Tel Aviv’s growing fears of Ankara’s alliance with Damascus following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. These revelations highlight the strategic scenarios Israel is considering in response to evolving regional dynamics.
